Two Design Midlands Trustees Retire After 15 Years

Angus Walker

Angus Walker, Trustee of Design Midlands, retires from the Board this month after fifteen and a half years as Finance Advisor and Company Secretary.  Angus has played a significant role in steering the company through changes in legislation and was instrumental in the merger of Opun and MADE and its rebranding to Design Midlands in 2019.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, for over 50 years Angus has made a significant contribution to businesses in the third sector and his work with Design Midlands is no exception.

Chair of Trustees, Gary Hunt, has also retired from the Board due to ill health.  Gary, whose background was in retail design, spent time as a Councillor at Leicester City Council where he utilised his vast experience in planning, highways and estates.  Gary is currently a LibDem Councillor for Oadby & Wigston Borough Council. Both Trustees worked together at Opun before Design Midlands was launched.

Design Midlands Chief Executive Julie Tanner said:  “We are so grateful for the work of both Gary and Angus over the years.  Each has contributed a huge amount to the success of Design Midlands and we are sad to see them go.”

An announcement on the appointment of new Trustees will be made next month.
