Catherine has extensive knowledge of place making, with a dual interest in both public realm and local community wellbeing. Originally a chartered surveyor, valuing commercial property, she moved into community-led development. The practice based expertise gained in delivering an award winning public realm scheme was explored in her PhD, considering how implementation may erode design quality. She now focuses her research on social sustainably and community wellbeing. She is an assessor for the Civic Trust.
