The emerging Design and Placemaking PPG will influence how we deliver development in the future. Design Codes will provide guidance to developers, Local Planning Authorities and certainly for communities in how a place will change in the future.

If you are a community, we can provide methods to make the task of code preparation and evidence assembly straightforward and ensure effective engagement is provided.

If you are a developer or housebuilder preparing a Site Code we can support engagement with the community and the LPA through Code testing and Design Review.

If you are a Local Planning Authority preparing an Area Code or preparing Strategic Site Allocations, we can be a critical friend by bringing expertise and experience; support brief development, testing and engagement.

Strategic Sites Review

Area-based activity to provide evidence

Suited to local plan preparation or a wider area that needs an evidence base before the design code is prepared. This area-based assessment will work with developers and local authorities to advise on site parameters, to de-risk a site prior to local plan adoption.

Design Code Testing

Reviewing a draft Design Code

With a draft Design Code, we can bring a Panel of experts together to review and advise on the effectiveness of the emerging design code. We will provide panel member continuity through the different stages of engagement.

Design Code development

We can bring a Panel of experts together to advise on brief development, design code preparation and preparation. We will provide panel member continuity if you wish to re-engage the Panel for later stages of code testing.

Enabling

DM Panel brings design expertise into a stakeholder setting to unlock potential and help towards effective design and development. Enabling activities ensure that the evidence, context, and activities needed are in place and are in alignment with project expectations to lead to more sustainable, functional and user-friendly places.
