Jo trained in holography at the Royal College of Art, London and the Holocentre, New York. Jo has received ten Arts Council Awards, The Wingate Scholarship and the new Oxford Film and Video Award, twice. He was made a NESTA Fellow with a Dream Time Award to develop virtual reality as an art form.
Jo’s practice is varied and he works with different specialists in flexible clusters to enable him to respond sensitively to the character of any site. Jo illuminates buildings, make sculptural lighting interventions, designs architectural glass, creates interactive film projections, designs public spaces, makes interactive walls and approach’s projects with a view to their own sustainability.
Jo was the artist on the ‘Think Tank’ to advise Silverstone on creating a more cultural package for their Formula 1 customers.
Jo’s practice profile has been featured in Blueprint and Total Lighting magazines and he has been designing for the public realm for 30 years.
