Working with Amber Valley Borough Council we helped facilitate and deliver a design led approach in producing supplementary planning guidance on the use and development of land between the A6 and River Derwent, Belper.
Working with our East Midlands Councils colleagues, our support in producing this guidance included delivering an informative workshop on “Design and Streets” and an options gathering workshop, to garner view of local people on the potential development of sites.
We also provided evaluation of a “Building in Context Event” (a community workshop) in which we identified guiding principles to help to achieve the highest quality development and where we signposted opportunities to install best practice and capture the potential to deliver a quality environment. The resultant adopted Supplementary Planning Document and Development Brief sets out essential design requirements for this sensitive site – which includes Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and Belper and Milford Conservation Area
